Hi to all,

I tried to translate the directory to german languange, but it doesn't work.

I had edit the wp-content/plugins/business-directory-plugin/languagesWPBDM.pot file with the newest PO editor and saved the files to /wp-content/plugins/business-directory-plugin/WPBDM_de_DE.mo and WPBDM_de_DE.po.

No changes where seen on the site. Any ideas?

I used WP 3.4.2 and BDM 2.1.4.

Kind regards

Malte

Hi Malte,

You need to name your files WPBDM-de_DE.mo and WPBDM-de_DE.po. (Note the "dash" instead of "underscore" between WPBDM and the language code. That should help.

Hi,

next try. I save the .po and .mo file like your reply. But doesn't worked. Browser cache cleaned, but no german language.

But a question for the translation. Can I only change some english source or must I translate all sources? In my case I only change the backend sources for german translation.

Have you activated your language code in your blog? (to de_DE)

Hi Malte,

Can you send me admin credentials via the contact form (bottom of the page)? I can take a closer look then.

Please link to this forum post so I know which one you're talking about.

Use Google Transalate. The only draw back is you have to use a Javascript call that is not on google translate… here it is (if you do not use it google trans will load very very very slow.

[code] <div id="google_translate_element"></div><script type="text/javascript">
function googleTranslateElementInit() {
  new google.translate.TranslateElement({pageLanguage: 'en', includedLanguages: 'de,es,fr,hi,it,iw,ja,la,nl,ru,sv,yi,zh-CN', layout: google.translate.TranslateElement.InlineLayout.SIMPLE}, 'google_translate_element');
}
</script><script type="text/javascript" src="//translate.google.com/translate_a/element.js?cb=googleTranslateElementInit"></script>

[end_code]

Oh my god. I know whats going on. The problem in this case is sitting in front of the monitor.

I didn't insert the path to the plugin directory in the po editor. After correct this, I get the translation. Sorry.

You can close this ticket.

Thank you very much for your patience.

Kind regards

Malte

Could you explain this further?? What do you mean "insert the path to the plugin directory in the po editor" – what and where is this??

FYI: I posted on Wordpress.org's support forums for this plugin (before seeing this post); it may help to have that background info for trouble-shooting:

Language is not displaying on frontend nor backend. I translated the plugin [to Spanish] and created the po/mo files, which are located in the /languages directory; the correct <define> string is in the config file, too.

I have installed v3.0.2 on WP 3.5.1, and I followed the instructions in your forum post to convert/upload language files.

Obviously: How can I achieve the Spanish-language format/interface?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi John,

Sorry to see that you are having issue. Can you please provide all the steps that you did for translation? List everything in full detail - specific paths, files changes, etc.

I'm asking because such an issue only occurs when something is missed or is put in the wrong place. For your reference, here is the FAQ article that provides detailed steps for translating BD:

Replied on Wordpress.org forums: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/language-file-not-functioning?replies=3#post-4098545

Please advise if I can send/upload the language files for your review (if you think that might help our troubleshooting).

Thanks.
