In the businessdirectory-listings.tpl.php my listings are separated by about 2 inches, I have a post on the top of the page and the rest are on the bottom. I was trying to locate wpbusdirman_post_excerpt() so I could see what is going on in that function. I have looked everywhere and can't find it. Can someone tell me were this function is?

It's under deprecated/deprecated.php.
It will still work, but we're moving away from that system, just FYI, for 2.1 and beyond. You should probably upgrade to 2.1 and take our your template customizations from the theme to see what the new version does for you out of the box. You may find a lot less work to do at that point.
