Hello and thanks in advance,
This is a non-profit project and we are trying to help local artists showcase their art for free. I wonder if this directory is what I need. it seems it has all I need except that I want artists to be able to showcase their art. I am still unsure how/what. Perhaps a small slider and/or a portfolio grid … donno. But when a new user creates a new profile, in addition to their contact and description I want them to be able to upload images for their own gallery.
What do you suggest? Is there an add-on that I can use?

Hi,
Sorry, BD plugin does not offer any special features (portfolio grid etc.) specifically for an Art directory but we do allow users to upload images with their listings. We also offer a thickbox/lightbox option to display listing images. You can find more details on BD Image settings here: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/appearance-tab/#image
Beyond that, there are some WP plugins (such as https://wordpress.org/plugins/ultimate-responsive-image-slider/ or https://wordpress.org/plugins/advance-portfolio-grid/ etc.) that can add enhanced features to your images but I’m not sure if they’ll work with BD plugin. So it would take some test and trial to find a suitable solution.
