I would like to use the new feature in 5.x that allows listers to have more than one category. Some of my listings are paid and some are free, but I want to charge extra if they want more than one category for their listing. The documentation doesn’t cover this new feature. In order to have a free listing with just one category, do I charge a negative amount equal to a category charge?
IE: Fee Price = $-25
Extra Amount (per category) $25
or is the initial category included in the Fee price?
The initial category is included in the Fee price. So you can set 0 for Fee Price and then set the per category fee in your Extra Amount (per category) field. New documentation on this is available here:
After running some testing, it is apparent the initial category is not included in the Fee price. The knowledge base says:
” Base price, plus extra per category: This is the behavior we supported in 4.0. Charges the user for each category they add to a listing.”
So this means I would need to set the fee price as a negative number to get a free listing with one category. Which would be fine, but I don’t see how the lister can add more than one category to a listing. The option just isn’t there.
I have some screenshots if you want to see them.
This does not sound right, as the base price should include at least 1 category. Also, I’m not sure how a negative price can function in this situation. Kindly send some screenshots to show how you setup and used the fee plan and what were the end results. (use http://imgur.com/ if possible)
As for allowing users to select more than one category, you’d need to go to BD Admin -> Manage Form Fields -> edit your Category field -> and change the field type to multi-select list or checkbox or radio box etc.
