Hi, we don’t charge our users for hosting listings on our site. Rather we are looking to charge them when we drive then new business enquires via the contact listing owner capabilities, which we’ve deployed.
In an ideal world, i’d like to capture and track these leads and be able to charge a credit card a lead fee everytime a new lead goes through to them.
Any ideas where to start or how to do this?
I am sorry, we don’t currently have a way to track and charge every single lead but we can work on it for future. Thanks for your input here.
However, if it helps, we do offer an option to allow/restrict contact form access for a listing based on their fee plan. This is supported in our Featured Levels module, details of which are covered in our documentation here:
There are definitely ways you can do this. However, the easiest is to not use the built-in contact form, but to add a separate contact form to each profile page.
I am still developing my directory, but I have done the steps you would need to track and implement this.
The basic overview of my steps:
1. Install and setup a Contact 7 Form with the fields I want
2. Use Flamingo, or a MailChimp (or other CRM) integration to save each lead that is submitted including who it was for, etc.
3. Write some custom code to set the recipient email address for the form to go to the right person before it sends
b. I used the functions.php file to add a hook to the Contact form 7 before-submit action and used the school ID to lookup the admin email address for that listing and edit the send-to email.
I can share some code snippets if needed, it took me several hours of trial and error to get it right (mostly because I am not a PHP developer by trade).
There are a lot of contact form 7 plugins that would allow you to save submitted leads to a database. You could probably even fire a custom action in google analytics that would record the event, and the profile ID / Name. Then it would be easy to report on by period. Lots of ways to do this, but the most important is to use Contact Form 7, save submissions, and over-ride the send-to email.
You would still have to manually charge the card each month for the number of leads.
