Hi
Just a couple of things I've been trying to figure out.
1. Is it possible to get the urls to display in a seo friendly way? I noticed that one of my listings shows the business name in the url which is great and the others only show serial numbers. Can't really explain that one.
2. Is there a way to make the main directory page only show a predetermined amount of listings. For example, I'd like the main directory page to show only the latest 5 listings because I don't want the main page to end up with countless listings that users will have to scroll down a very long page. Can that be done?
Any help or advice with this would be really valuable.
URL is http://tenerifeforum.org.es/te…..directory/
Thanks

Hi,
Please see answers below:
1. Business Names are always hyper linked to the actual listings so I'm not sure what you mean by “and the others only show serial numbers”. For better SEO, we just recently added another option to add a text for Business Website field that is automatically used as an anchor text.
2. To limit the number of listings to display, you will need to look under WP reading settings and set the No.of posts to 5, in the “Blog pages show at most” field. Alternatively, you can just hide the listings from the main page and use the “recent listings” widget instead.
Hope it helps.

Thanks for the speedy response.:)
I understand #2 perfectly, much easier than I thought.
For #1 here are some examples;
This category url is fine:
http://tenerifeforum.org.es/te…../property/
I then select the business name link “Cancasa” to go to actual listing and I get this:
http://tenerifeforum.org.es/te…..ctory/922/
Is it possible to structure it like this:
http://tenerifeforum.org.es/te…..y/cancasa/
You mentioned another option, can you explain where this option is and how to use it for seo as I can only guess and probably won't find it.:)
ps. It's a great plugin and hope to get the Paypal plugin soon.:)
Many thanks

Hi,
As BD listings are similar to a default WP post, it is possible to change the link structure by using the custom permalinks. More details can be found here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Usi…..Permalinks
Regarding the other option I mentioned, it is used to define an anchor text for the business listing website field. You can see it in our demo here: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/business-directory/?action=submitlisting , notice the “Link Text (optional):” area right next to the URL field. You can find this option under BD ‘Manage Form Fields' option.

Hi BDS
Thanks again for the update.
The Permalinks on my site is set to Custom Structure /%category%/%postname%/ but it still shows a number instead of the actual business name which is what I want it to show.
How can I get the url to display the business listing name on the end instead of a default listing number?
Thanks

Hi,
The default listing number is actually the ID of the post used by Business Directory to display the listing and it can't be removed at this time. Lots of SEO-friendly sites use this technique and it is actually a good practice to follow such URL structure. However, the custom structure you are using should generate listing name along with the listings ID (as you can see in this URL: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/business-directory/608/apple-inc/ ) but I'm not sure why its not working for you.

Hi BDS
I've had to manually edit the lpermailink urls individually inside the post as that is the only way it works.
It will mean that I have to do each listing manually so automating the directory section by adding the Paypal plugin is now out of the question as I simply will not have the time to do this if the listings reach large volumes.
The previous url for the listing “Cancasa” was:
http://tenerifeforum.org.es/te…..ctory/922/
After editing the Permalink, it is now:
http://tenerifeforum.org.es/te…..2/cancasa/
Just so that others with the same problem are aware of this error and how to get around it.:)
Thanks
