Using the quick search bar with the regions module on it doesn’t find any listings using the “City, State”. If I just type in the “State” alone, that works. The city is the meta field automatically added by the Regions module and they’re all filled in and confirmed etc. I’m not getting any errors thrown or logged so I’m not sure why it isn’t working. I thought that it may possibly mean you’d have to add every city you want to use as a “sub-region” of the State “sub-region” but that would mean we’d have to include every city from the state to be sure to cover all areas for submitting listings?
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Sorry to hear that. What version of WP, BD plugin and Regions module do you have?
The search should work if you enter City, State both or just city or state separately. For example, here is the search result from our demo page if you search for “San Jose, California”:
For search issues, usually it’s best to see some screenshots to understand how you did it. Can you tell me:
– What you searched for? (Screenshot of the form just before you search is really the best way)
– What you got back? (Again, a screenshot is best)
– What did you not see that you expected to see? (Links to specific listings are helpful here)
– Did you get results using the advanced search box?
– What form fields have you selected for the “Quick search fields” found under BD Admin -> Manage Options -> General?
You may send screenshots using http://imgur.com/ if you like. Thanks!
Thanks for getting back.
WP version: 4.9.8
BD version: 5.3.4
Regions Module version: 5.0.10
Here is my search scenario, there are 59 listings with city “Middletown” and State “Connecticut” (all my listings are in the state of CT FYI.)
I search “Middletown, Connecticut” or “Middletown Connecticut” or lowercase version or “Middletown” alone. I get “No Listings Found.” Here is how this URL looks for first example: myurl.com?wpbdp_view=search&kw=&wpbdp_location=Middletown%2C+Connecticut
If I just type “Connecticut” alone and no city included then it returns all listings as expected. Here is how that URL looks: myurl.com?wpbdp_view=search&kw=&wpbdp_location=Connecticut
This is the case for every city I have, not just specific ones.
If I use advanced search and put “Middletown” in the “City” field and set “State” dropdown to “Connecticut”. It displays all 59 results correctly.
Quick Search fields selected in admin: Name of Program or Service, City, Category, Keywords, and Zip Code. (also tested this by adding short description, long description, removing city etc.)
Please let me know if you still require screenshots. Hoping I’ve broken that down clearly enough.
