I still can’t edit my posts? So I have to add a reply to my question. Nothing happens when I click on edit.
I have read this: How to check for plugin and theme conflicts with BD – https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/support-forum/faq/how-to-check-for-plugin-and-theme-conflicts-with-bd/
How do I check that an email is being sent out and that listings will expire?
Change the expiry date on a test listing to say expiring in an hour? then wait for an hour, which would have to be in the middle of the night otherwise the site just looks awful and with most plugins turned off, nothing is going to work.
I know I can’t deactivate one of the plugins as that does delete data.
Is there some other way to work out why the plugin isn’t functioning the way it should?
Is there a cron job I can run?
Perhaps if I install the plugin wp-krontrol and see what’s going on – what am I supposed to look for? Is there a cron job that’s supposed to be running for the BD plugin?
My hosting said “and indeed you can use the fill cron / schedule tasks function in your control panel if you wish” – wish I took to mean I can add a cron job?
Sorry to see you running into issues here. If wp-cron is on then you don’t really need to add a cron job for this purpose.
What is your current version of WP, PHP and BD plugin? Were your listings expiring correctly before or is it something you’ve just setup and isn’t working per your tests?
Also, can you please tell how exactly are you checking the listing’s expiry status? Do you have listing renewal option enabled in BD settings and the email templates setup? You should also check and make sure “Notify users via e-mail when… Their listing expired or is about to expire” option in enabled in your BD Email settings.
If the emails aren’t going out, it is recommended to go through the suggestions provided in following AWPCP article about debugging email problems, as most of it applies to BD as well:
The Email Logging Plugin is an excellent place to start when debugging email issues.
Listing renewal is on.
Even when I manually put the date back to 2 days ago it doesn’t say expired?
Shouldn’t it say that?
Here’s the directory:
I am checking the expired status from looking at all the directory entries – Directory > Directory
Where else can I see that status?
WP version: 5.1.1
PHP version: 7.3.3
BD Plugin version:
Thanks for that information. You can also check the expiry date by editing the listing from admin side and looking under the Listing Information section on right hand side.
I’m not sure if manually backdating a listing would mark it as expired but we can investigate this further. Please contact us with below information and a link to this forum thread so we can look into this directly:
– Your WP and BD plugin version number
– WP admin username
– WP admin password
– WP login URL
– FTP username
– FTP password
– FTP servername/IP address
