My name is Dave. I took over the plugin from the original author (A. Lewis) and I’ll be coming up to speed on support and development here for the next few weeks.
Because this is a new plugin to me, I’ll need some patience from you while I figure everything out. I have a developer who will be working on this with me and I already have a number of issues in the pipeline to fix (search, category handling, payment listing display, among others). Once it’s done, I’ll test and release it.
I look forward to serving you in the coming months!
Yes dave, if you check out my site you can see under the (accommodation) parent category you can see the child categories (bed and breakfast) i would like all the child categories under the parent categories to open up on its own page. on the options page their is an option to only show parent categories but it does not seem to work. .
Thanks for quick response
I have set mine to 10 posts as not getting any second pages, on the view listings page, url says page 2 but it goes back to the categories ??
Also need to change text of Older entries to page numbers ??
Is this a problem because it’s based on blog posts ?
First, good luck, Dave!
I apologize in advance for this entire post but I literally just installed this plugin, joined this site, and can’t find how to add a new post in the forum.
I have EXTREMELY basic questions at this point:
1. I downloaded from the home page at this site but in the plugin area it says 1.0, and it seems there are more recent versions?
2. I can see the directory controls in the dashboard but can’t figure out how to set things up to use the directory from the front end.
I only want this to be one feature within my site….but I see others are using it AS their site.
Should I somehow set this plugin up in a subdomain? I have no idea how to do that, btw, but I do wonder if rather than it be a menu item where one can click and be taken to the main directory page, where the categories are listed, it needs to have its own subdomain?
I can’t figure out how to set it up to create a link/menu item to this directory at my site’s home page. That’s my biggest stumbling block right now…lol
3. Is there another plugin or some tool offered that creates a good search filter area, with the ability to filter by city/state/country?
1.0 is the right version. The old owner renumbered it for some odd reason.
You don’t need to create a subdomain to use it. You do need to create categories for your directory. That’s the first issue for most folks. Have you looked at the install documentation?
Thanks Dave.. I posted my request but not sure I did it right, so I am posting it again in here. Hope you can help:
I have set up the directory on our site at http://www.dsbchamber.com/directory/ and it looks great except when anyone clicks on the View Listings tab, it only shows the first 8 listings. Wen I go to the older entries nothing else comes up. 1. how do we fix that. 2. is there any way to have 100 listing for example instead of just 8 show up?
Search issue will be fixed in the next release. As to the View Listings issue, I will get my developer looking at that right away. Seems like a bug.
Non-registered users see a message to login or sign up- they should check their inbox, etc., but the grammer needs to be fixed:
“You are not currently logged in. Please login or register first. When registering, you will receive an activation email. Be sure to check your spam if you don’t see it in your email WITH 60 MINTUES.”
Thanks so much for a quick fix.
Thanks Iris. I fixed this for the next round.
@Bob: The listings are limited by the number of posts per page setting you have in WordPress itself. Check that and increase the number.
