In the list of fields, I have setup a custom one I have called “Activity”, with the field association “Post category”.
I have Categories with subcategories, like :
Flowers and plants
But then when this field is displayed in my Directory detail, it displays:
Activity: Flowers, Flowers and plants, Reseller
It displays the categories in the alphabetical order, and I don’t want that.
Any way to display the categories in the hierarchical order instead?
Unfortunately, what you are asking for is not something we support today because right now, the default display order for categories on listing detail view is alphabetical. I’ve noted your input so we can add some option for this in the future.
Right now, you would need to try and hack the plugin in order to change the order.
There’s a way around the problem.
Keep your category names as they are but change the slug for each category and have the slugs starting with numbers. Allot numbers based on the order in which you want the categories displayed.
Then use this shortcode:
Actually, ignore my last post. After doing some testing, I think that shortcode is broken. I’ve created a new thread about that.
And I’ve now just discovered that the instructions in this BD documentation are actually wrong!
The example given to “Display the list of categories starting at the one with ID 20 and ordering by slug” is given as
businessdirectory-categories parent=20 order=”slug”
when actually it should be
businessdirectory-categories parent=20 orderby=”slug”
It’s taken me hours of messing around before I spotted that!
BD, you might want to fix this. It’s very frustrating that I’m finding so many issues with BD 🙁 I’m feeling more and more like a beta tester 🙁
