I wanted to change the colors of the social icons on Modern Business Theme, however have noted that only Facebook and Twitter are using Font Awesome. LinkedIn, Youtube, and Instagram are all using SVG’s. I have had a look through the templates but can’t find where this snipped of code is, so that I can change it.
Could you please advise ?
Yes I have tried using custom CSS. I have created the wpbdp css file and uploaded it to the server, and have successfully made other changes.
The issue is that for LinkedIn, Instagram, Youtube etc. BDP is calling images rather than font-awesome.
I have successfully changed Facebook and Twitter to the colours I would like, as they are calling font-awesome.
Here is the code for Linked In
<a target=”_blank” rel=”noopener” href=”https://www.linkedin.com/company/advanced-manufacturing-growth-centre-ltd/”> <img src=”http://staging.hunterif.flywheelsites.com/wp-content/plugins/business-directory-plugin/assets/images/linkedin.png”></a>
Here is the code for Twitter
<a target=”_blank” rel=”noopener” class=”popup btn-info” href=”https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=Advanced+Manufacturing+Growth+Centre+–+The+purpose+of+AMGC+is+to+transform+Australian+Manufacturing+to+be+more+globally+competitive+and+generate+the+demand+for+jobs+http%3A%2F%2Fstaging.hunterif.flywheelsites.com%2Finnovation%2F30997%2Fadvanced-manufacturing-growth-centre%2F”><span class=”fa fa-twitter”></span></a>
I would like all of the social icons to be like Twitter.
Please see below response from our developer:
I’m not clear about the issue, I think user is mixing all social fieldtypes, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Other.
Twitter and Facebook work really similar by creating the icons using a JS script that throws a request to each API. This icons styling can be changed using CSS.
LinkedIn creates a link, when visitors click the logo image (png format) is redirected to a linkedIn profile. The image can be resized but not styled.
In Social Field Other listing owners define what social network will include and an SVG is used as link to an specific social network URL. In this fieldtype FontAwesome icons are used in submit forms (frontend and backend) and as backup in case browser doesn’t support SVG. Currently, SVG images can’t be styled using external CSS.
What we can include for social other icons is a field setting to define if SVG or Font Awesome should be used in excerpt and listing views.
So unfortunately, this is not a quick thing to change but we’ve noted it down on our list so we can better prioritize it for future. Thanks for your input here!
