Just upgraded to 1.8.7, but didn’t fix a problem I’ve had.
Pay particular attention to the general Category ‘California,’ with two sub categories, Los Angeles and San Diego. If you click on either of the sub categories, the listing is displayed appropriately. If you click on California, however, only one is listed (and neither of them have California checked in the post, only their sub category.
This problem has several instances in my implementation. These listings are provided by the businesses, and then I approve them.
Do an update of any listing via the directory dashboard. Change the category then save. You can go back and reedit the listing to change back the category to the original. If this still does not fix that problem drop the category that’s giving the problem and recreate it. If still no fix let me know.
OK. First I just hit update on the San Diego listing. No change in the problem. Then I changed the category of the listing, made sure it showed up under the new category, then went and put it back in San Diego. No luck.
Then I changed the category, deleted San Diego, re-added it, put the listing back in San Diego. No luck.
I haven’t deleted California (the parent directory), but I didn’t want to lose all the sub directories. Thoughts?
Can you possibly move the sub categories to a different parent category, delete California, recreate California then move the sub categories back? I am not sure what is going on yet to be honest.
I also tried this. Created (yet again) a new parent cat, AAATemp. Created subcats AAATemp 1sub and AAATemp 2sub. I moved the Los Angeles listing to AAATemp 1sub and I moved the San Diego listing to AAATemp 2sub. Then I looked at the parent cat AAATemp. Only the AAATemp 1sub appeared (the Los Angeles listing.)
Also at my site, for example, parent category ‘Oregon’ has three listings, none of which show up if you click on ‘Oregon.’ One is in the sub category ‘Medford,’ and two are in the sub category ‘Portland.’ If you click on ‘Medford,’ the listing appears properly. If you click on ‘Portland,’ nothing appears.
With regard to the California listings, I can alternate which shows up under parent ‘California’ by changing the date of the post – the newest posting shows up alone.
I hope this helps you tracking down some of the problems.
I have not had a chance to check this in more depth yet. Please see whether the suggestion made by Arie Claassens in the below thread helps to resolve the problem for you.
