It would be nice to have the ability to set each category list to display randomly. That way every time you're fresh the page, the listings on the first page would change, giving all listings the opportunity to display on the first page.

We're going to add a Random Listings widget in the next release. Having what you suggest would perhaps be confusing to users who would visit the same page expecting to find a particular listing only to have it not be there because of the random feature. It would be like having an outline for a paper that randomly changed order periodically. That would be confusing to a reader.
I agree that a random listing would make the listee happy. Everyone wants to be on the top of the list, the first page, etc. Please let us know when the random widget is available. Thanks

Couldn't you use a cookie to avoid the order changing on a page refresh?

Hi Folks,
Apparently, my developer snuck this one in awhile back!
I just checked and there is a Random Listings widget available. It's been in for 2 months now. 
Check under Appearance->Widgets and you'll see 3 widgets: Featured, Latest and Random.
I would like to see an option to randomize the directory list including the Sticky listings. I have a client that needs a business directory but they have a requirement that there featured listings be randomized. (to make everyone happy and to give each of their clients some time at the top) The widget isn't useful in this case because I want the Directory itself to be randomized when viewing all the listings.

I'm sorry, there is no way to handle this right now unless you directly hack the plugin.

Hi Katya,
Do you mean adding a categories widget? If so, we have already noted it as an enhancement suggestion. However, for now, you may try the suggestions given here:

Katya I've just done this – very easy to do 
array('choices' => array('date', 'title', 'id', 'author', 'modified', 'rand')));
Then go to Manage options and select rand and voila – Random category listings!
